Challenge Accepted

Message Series: June 2025

The hardest things in life are usually the most rewarding, and following Jesus is no different. Everyday we have the opportunity to choose.

This 3-week series dives into the concept of choosing between the easy path or the hard path that leads to life.

Inspiration

Pastel color palette
Soft blues, faded reds/oranges, and sun-bleached tones give it a nostalgic, almost vintage postcard feel.

Retro-inspired lighting
Bright, even lighting with minimal harsh shadows, everything feels clean, airy, and slightly idealized.

Reminiscent of filmmakers
Wes Anderson (especially in composition and color control), as well as Todd Haynes (in the retro color grading and mood).

*The images on the top left of the mood board are shots from the 1993 film The Sandlot

Quirky & heart-warming

The title of “Challenge Accepted” takes center stage, but the intentionally offset diving board creates visual interest. By layering the boy in front of the large-scale bold, yet rounded and youthful type, it juxtaposes his cowardly demeanor and the act of courage he choses.

Follow the story through our opening video to introduce the message:

Surrendering to God isn’t weakness; it takes an amazing amount of strength.”
